As an amateur band comprising of an enthusiastic group of musicians (well mostly!), our passion is to entertain the public, support various events, and promote the ‘Guggenmusik’ style of music.
We rely on donations and occasional fees for organised gigs to ensure we can continue to entertain and represent both Bournemouth and the UK.

All of the money we collect is used to cover our costs, new instruments and uniforms, etc, and not a penny goes into the member’s pockets!

We also support selected charity events each year including the London Marathon. In 2024 we hope to be able to represent Bournemouth with our twin town of Lucerne in Switzerland. Lucerne is the home of Guggenmusik, and we are working hard to raise funds to take the band to participate in the week-long annual ‘Fasnacht’ festival.

So, we are launching our ‘Sponsor a Member’ fundraiser and you can become a ‘Friend of Gugge 2000’

So here is how you can help us:

  • Choose your favourite member from our rogue’s gallery (it will of course become highly competitive between the members as to who can get the most sponsors!!)
  • Complete our sponsorship details so we can keep in touch
  • Just click ’Sponsor Me’, fill in the form and click ’Sponsor a Member’ which will take you to the payment page to send us your money! You can simply pay by card if you do not have a Paypal account.

You can also join when you see us at a gig by asking one of the players or one of our lovely collectors.

We ask for a minimum donation of £20.00 per player. There’s no maximum of course!!

Sponsorship will last for one year from starting and of course if you just can’t make your mind up from our good-looking rogues gallery then maybe you can sponsor more than one member!!

In return for we will:

  • Send you one of our great CDs and a Gugge 2000 badge so we can spot you at a gig! (subject to availability of course and for the first year only)
  • Keep you informed of gigs and events via email
  • Occasionally invite you to attend an ‘Open’ rehearsal
  • Send you an annual reminder in the hope that you would like to sponsor us again!

Your donation will ensure we can continue to entertain. Thank you for your generous support it really will make a huge difference.

Ben Lister

Trombone

Ben joined us post lockdown having not played his trombone for many years. After dusting off and a service you would never know.  Just like riding a bike I guess, you never forget! A great addition to the Troms (well they are the best section after all!!)

SPONSOR ME

Callum Endall

Drum

Callum joins Mum, Tina, in the drum section. Can you imagine what it must be like when they are both practising at home!! Check your neighbours before you move house.

SPONSOR ME

Tina Endall

Drum

Tina was one of our post lockdown recruits in our much needed drum section. A newly converted very enthusiastic Gugge fan destined to become one of the loudest no doubt!

SPONSOR ME

Martin Green

Sousaphone

Martin plays Sousa. He is also a bit of a band (bad) joker! A true Gugge enthusiast who supports the Band’s social media. Worryingly he loves any opportunity to dress up……and not always in band uniform!

SPONSOR ME

Tina Tuttiett

Flag Bearer

Well with Tina’s husband and daughter in the band she didn’t have much choice I guess but to join so she can see her family occasionally! Tina can be seen waving our banner during processions!

SPONSOR ME

Sue Grace

Collector

If you get tapped on the shoulder for some money at a gig, it’s most likely to be Sue with her big bucket! Her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter all play in the band!

SPONSOR ME

Ben Scott

Glock

Ben is another band ‘elder’. Don’t be alarmed when you get home and your ears are ringing, it’s not tinnitus, it was only his glockenspiel!! Ben looks after our merchandise sales too.

SPONSOR ME

Chris Dawe

Sousaphone

Being multi-talented Chris swaps between Sousa and trumpet depending how he feels! Always there when we need him!

SPONSOR ME

Mark Gale

Sousaphone

You can’t miss Mark! One of the ‘elders’ too. A larger-than-life character, our deputy Tambour and Sousaphone. You can always hear his infectious laugh!

SPONSOR ME

Dave Brewer

Euphonium

What can we say about Dave? Gugge 2000 was his brainchild back in 1998. Most of our music was arranged by Dave and after a lengthy sabbatical Dave returned to the fold in 2020. Oh, and he plays Euphonium quite well too!

SPONSOR ME

Andy Tuttiett

Euphonium

Andy is one of our social media team and plays Euphonium. His enthusiasm for Guggenmusik is unrivalled (well apart from his daughter Chloe of course!) as is his collection of instruments in the loft!

SPONSOR ME

Barry Stevens

Euphonium

One of our resident jokers! In between cracking jokes and witty Facebook posts Barry occasionally plays his Euphonium.

SPONSOR ME

Lewis Brewer

Trumpet

Lewis tries not to stand too close to his mother, Jacy, as the wild gyrating embarrasses him! Yes, you guessed, another trumpet!

SPONSOR ME

Helen Dunnings

Trumpet

A seasoned Brass Band ‘professional’ who came over to the dark side in 2021 (well her husband Mike, our Tambour hadn’t actually told her to be honest!)

SPONSOR ME

Jan Richardson

Trumpet

Yet another trumpet (so common eh!). Jan is also the Band’s treasurer so there is no escaping her at rehearsal!

SPONSOR ME

Mary Moore

Trumpet

Another of our many trumpeters! Mary looks after all the surplus band equipment for us! Luckily she has a huge shed!!!

SPONSOR ME

Jacy Brewer

Trumpet

You can’t fail to spot Jacy in our trumpet line up! She is the one uncontrollably jumping around….don’t worry it’s quite normal!

SPONSOR ME

Norman Tattum

Trumpet

Norman found love in the band! He tried trombone once but having discovered it is a highly technically demanding instrument he moved to the trumpets!

SPONSOR ME

Steve Hudson

Bass Trombone

Our illustrious Band Leader! Steve plays Bass Trombone (loudly) and claims to be classically trained! (we can only assume that he failed the exam….badly!)

SPONSOR ME

Paul Elphick

Tenor Trombone

Paul, another of our ‘band elders’ plays trombone (very loudly!). The Troms just wouldn’t be the same (or as loud) without Paul!

SPONSOR ME

Brian Cottell

Tenor Trombone

‘Brian the Lion’ (not sure where that came from) is another of our ‘band elders’ playing trombone but we are not always sure if it’s the correct music!

SPONSOR ME

Kathy Brown

Tenor Trombone

Kathy is a long serving member of our trombone section (everyone knows the Troms are the best) and she also found her perfect partner in the band!

SPONSOR ME

Michaela Vincent

Blocks

Michaela is one of several new members in 2021. She has learnt to play the blocks in no time at all!

SPONSOR ME

Angie Gale

Blocks

Gugge 2000 is a long-standing family commitment for the Gale family! Angie can normally be spotted by her colorful hair and can always be heard on her blocks!

SPONSOR ME

Gina Tattum

Cymbal

Gina smashes our other pair of cymbals! She loved the band so much she even married one of our trumpeters! (despite our warnings)

SPONSOR ME

Sue Elphick

Cymbal

Sue has a fine pair of cymbals and loves being out front! A great instrument for venting any frustrations (or maybe on her trombone playing husband!)

SPONSOR ME

Jo Maguire

Kit Drum

Jo, another of our kit drummers, returned to the band in recent years after retiring to France and missed us so much she just had to come back to England with her partner and rejoin!

SPONSOR ME

Tom Watkins

Kit Drum

One of our noisier members leading the kit drummers! The kits are so clever they don’t need music….or maybe they don’t understand it!!

SPONSOR ME

Carol Ireson

Bass Drum

Carol is not only one of our long serving Bass drummers but also our hard-working gig secretary. Why not get in touch and book us?

SPONSOR ME

Charlotte Gale

Bass Drum

Charlotte plays (well, hits!) Bass Drum. She is the youngest member of the infamous Gale family in the band (you can’t choose your parents can you!)

SPONSOR ME

Chloe Tuttiett

Bass Drum

Chloe, joined the band when she was half the height she is now and is a formidable force on the Bass Drum! You will need earplugs when you stand near her!! (We do)

SPONSOR ME

Mike Dunnings

Tambour (Conductor!)

We are all in awe of our talented Tambour! Mike, an accomplished musician has been associated with Gugge 2000 for many years and returned to musically direct us late in 2021.We just wish we could all see him (it’s a band joke!)

SPONSOR ME

Mari Anne Mackenzie-Brown

Trumpet

Yes, another trumpet!! Maz has returned to the band in 2021 after a few years dedicated to her family. She clearly needed a rest and some peace and quiet so back she came!
